THE BARBADOS Cricket Association (BCA) needs to put systems in place to secure the future of women’s cricket so that the players can be the beneficiaries.
Barbados’ team manager Betty Lewis threw out a challenge to her fellow BCA directors during a congratulatory luncheon for the double crown regional women’s cricket champions in the President’s Suite at Kensington Oval yesterday.
“I believe we have delivered as a team. I believe we have delivered in taking women’s cricket to the next level…I think we did what we were supposed to do as a team so now, we are ready, sitting and waiting for what will happen to the girls going forward,” Lewis said.
Barbados played unbeaten to win both the Regional Super50 and Twenty20 Blaze competitions with new captain Hayley Matthews and Deandra Dottin starring with bat and ball.
