U.S. Embassy staff help clean River Bay

Earlier today, staff of the United States Embassy in Barbados and their families joined volunteers from the Future Centre Trust and Dare to Care in cleanup activities at River Bay, St Lucy.

The cleanup, which was organized by the Embassy’s Community Liaison Office, was in recognition of Earth Day 2019.

Among the volunteers was Deputy Chief of Mission, Joaquin Monserrate, who gave brief remarks and thanked the participants. He encouraged  them to continue their efforts in protecting the environment and said that beach cleanups were a simple way each individual could better the ocean’s ecosystem.

Earth Day is an annual event observed on April 22 to celebrate the environment and raise awareness of today’s environmental challenges. It also celebrates the progress made in conservation and environmental protection over the past decades. (PR/SAT)
