OK for land tax payments in 4 parts

THE PEOPLE VOICED THEIR CONCERNS about land tax payments, and the Government says it listened.

Barbadians, many fuming over the hike in land tax, will now be allowed to pay their bills in four equal instalments by March 31 next year, and still earn a five per cent discount. 

In addition, some property owners, especially pensioners, have also been advised they can apply for relief through the Land Tax Relief Board, to show that payment of increases may bring about undue hardship.

The changes were announced yesterday by Prime Minister Mia Mottley in the House of Assembly, as she revealed initiatives aimed at easing the burden on taxpayers. (BA)
