Barbados’ hotels are set for a record year in occupancy, according to a top executive with an international research and data company.

The prediction was made yesterday by Emile Gourieux, STR senior business development executive for Hotels Canada, Caribbean and Mexico, the company which compiles data on the performance of member hotels of the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA).

The news brought smiles to the faces of the members at the BHTA’s third quarterly meeting at Hilton Barbados.

Gourieux’s disclosure supported the announcement by BHTA’s chief executive officer Senator Rudy Grant that hotel occupancy had shown a six per cent increase over the same period last year. (GC)
