Shane Brathwaite successfully negotiated the opening round of the men’s 110 metres hurdles on day four of the IAAF World Athletics Championships here in Doha, Qatar, yesterday.

Fourth in heat two in 13.51 seconds, Brathwaite advanced automatically to tomorrow’s semi-final round. The Barbadian athlete, however, was not pleased with the run.

“The start was bad and I really wasn’t aggressive the first couple hurdles. But as long as I make it to the next round, more life, another chance, so I can’t complain,” Brathwaite told THE NATION.

“The goal is a medal,” he continued, “but I can’t do it running like that. Go back to the drawing board, two nights, and come back Wednesday.” (KL)
