Nevis Premier: Barbados back on track

Article by GBM

BARBADOS IS BACK, and the “refreshing change” the island received with the May 2018 general election was also one for the region.

That was the assertion of Mark Brantley, the Premier of Nevis and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Energy in St Kitts and Nevis, as he delivered the feature address at the Barbados Labour Party’s (BLP) 81st Annual Conference in Queen’s Park, The City, yesterday morning.

“I say this because you must understand that the voice and the leadership of Barbados are critical in the Caribbean region. We all recognise as Barbadians went to the polls on May 24 ,2018, that change was in the air.

As it turned out, the Barbadian people demanded and delivered unprecedented change.  “They not only changed the Government, but by giving Mia Mottley and the BLP all 30 seats, they changed the historical course of politics in Barbados forever,” he told party faithful.

“The BLP has triumphed while others have been vanquished and discarded to the scrap heap of political history. Now I am seeing this change and since this change, the re-emergence of Barbados to its rightful place of prominence on the regional and international stage, under your great leader and Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley.“Let me tell you . . . Mia Mottley has reignited the passions of the Barbadian people. (GBM)
