The Barbados Water Authority (BWA) is declaring it has repaired every burst main and pipe in its backlog.

Director of engineering Charles Leslie said yesterday that workers, management and Barbados Workers’ Union (BWU) had reached an agreement and had been working feverishly to clear a 6 000 backlogged cases in less than three months.

The BWA team spoke with members of the media as a crew was repairing a leak in Tamarind Avenue, Country Road, St Michael.

“We have enacted an extended-hours project where we are trying to address leaks in our system as quickly as possible. Over time we had accumulated a backlog of complaints, and the BWA management in conjunction with the union conceptualised this programme. We looked at the number of complaints, the resources we would need, and on November 21 we started the programme,” Leslie said. (CA)
