Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw said on Sunday the ministry has been discussing a strategy for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) to ensure the safety of teachers and students.
She said teachers can be regarded as frontline workers and should be given necessary training.
“Therefore it is important we engage them in discussions in what are the signs they must look for, and what are the response mechanisms in place in order to address students who they suspect come to school and may present these particular type of symptoms,” she said.
Bradshaw was speaking to the media after a service at St Barnabas Anglican Church commemorating the Barbados Vocational Training Board and the Caribbean Centre for Development Administration’s joint 40th anniversary.
