Roach, Holder rout Guyana for 55

Barbados Pride are on the verge of capturing the regional first-class cricket title after Test fast bowlers Jason Holder and Kemar Roach routed defending champions Guyana Jaguars for 55 on the second day of their eighth round Day/Night match at the Guyana National Stadium in Providence, yesterday.

 The Pride with a first-innings lead of 119, extended it to 329 after being bowled out for 210 in the dying minutes of play with Keemo Paul getting four for 52. Resolute opener and captain Kraigg Brathwaite having his best game of the year, batting through the innings, for an undefeated 84 in 177 balls with nine fours and one six.

Left-arm spinner Veerasammy Permaul, the season’s leading wicket-taker, snatched the wicket of Ashley Nurse for his 50th scalp of the season. Permaul went wicketless in the first innings.

Guyana resuming at 19 for two, were blown away in just 28.1 overs by the pace of Roach and the bounce of Holder.  (MK)
