Fire burns grassy areas in Christ Church
Firemen responded to a grass fire at Adams Castle, Christ Church today.
Large plumes of smoke emanated from two grassy pieces of land which line the entrance to the Globe Drive-In.
It appears houses were not in danger of being damaged but four cows were saved by the fast action of people from the neighbourhood.
As the fire intensified, the frightened animals bellowed loudly before they were finally cut loose from their tethers.
The blaze extended to neighbouring Searles and Small Ridge.
Two tenders from the Bridgetown Fire Station, and seven officers under the command of leading fire officer Patrick Smith responded to the blaze which began around midday.
Two other fire tenders also circled the area to make sure everything was under control.
One of these tenders came from the fire station in St John and the other from Worthing Fire Station, Christ Church. (SB)
