Students preparing for Caribbean Examination Council (CXC) Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) final examinations in July, will benefit from a collaboration between the Ministry of Education and US-based digital education company, FortunaPIX.

Students and teachers now have access to the CSEC Exam App, LernPrep, free of cost until July 31. The test preparatory app is a product of OneLern, a brand owned by FortunaPIX.

According to a statement from the ministry, LernPrep is a digital assessment App with an easy interface. It provides students preparing to do Paper 1 of the CSEC final exam support for all popular CSEC subjects. The App allows students to take ongoing practice tests and cumulative mock tests.

Every test gives instant feedback with reports and performance analytics on scores.

The company noted that since the CSEC Paper 1 final exit exams for fifth-form students will be done on an online testing environment this year, LernPrep would provide the practice and experience to make it easy for students to face the final exam with confidence.

“Students had to study from home due to [the] COVID-19 situation, and we are committed to providing both teachers and students with online education. We are extending the benefits by offering the LernPrep test App for Form 5 students who would be taking the certification exam in July. We want to do everything we can to support the students to perform better,” said Minister of Education Santia Bradshaw.

Acting Chief Education Officer, Joy Adamson noted: “Students of Barbados deserve the best and we always strive for the best for them. We want to thank our digital education partner FortunaPIX for offering us the App completely free of cost during these difficult times, and to Ms Neysha Soodeen at Radleigh Consulting for facilitating this partnership.”

FortunaPIX’s chief operating officer, Dushyant Agarwal, said LernPrep has taken the company one step closer to its mission of “personalising learning”.

“We are aiming to give students across Barbados direct and real-time access to the best digital education. We are positive that LernPrep will help them perform better in their upcoming exam,” he said.

The App works on all devices supported with Android 6 and above. (BGIS)
