West Indies’ assistant coach Roddy Estwick said the team took away several positives and would be reasonably satisfied with the overall showing from the opening day of the three-day practice match yesterday at Old Trafford, Manchester.
Kraigg Brathwaite (84) and Shai Hope (83) had a bright start to English conditions, while fast bowlers Alzarri Joseph and Shannon Gabriel made their mark with the ball.
Speaking at a Zoom media conference at the end of yesterday’s play, Estwick was upbeat about the players’ first taste of competitive cricket in two months.
“Kraigg and Shai are quite confident where their game is at at this moment. It is good to see them get some match practice and see everyone get some time on the park. They have been off cricket for two months. The sun shone in Manchester, so it was a good day all-round,” he said. (MK)
