The appeal brought by attorney Vonda Pile against her conviction and sentence for stealing a client’s money began in the Court of Appeal yesterday.
The Crown had been given leave to bring additional evidence despite objections by Pile’s attorney, Queen’s Counsel Andrew Pilgrim.
The matter got under way before Acting Chief Justice Rajendra Narine and Justices of Appeal Francis Belle and Jefferson Cumberbatch.
The attorney, of Madison Terrace, Deacons Farm, St Michael, was convicted in June 2019, by majority verdict, of stealing US$96 008 between April 29, 2009, and October 26, 2010, from Bajan/New Yorker businessman Anstey King, and was jailed, by Justice Pamela Beckles, for three years. (HLE)
