Carlton rally to beat Deacons

Phoenix Security Services Carlton women scored a remarkable come-from-behind win over losing knockout finalists Deacons when the Goddard Enterprises Limited senior volleyball competition continued on Wednesday night at the Wildey Gymnasium.

Carlton took the battle 16-25, 11-25, 25-9, 25-14, 15-9 after Deacons’ captain Takima Daniel, southpaw Serena Edwards and the robust Fabia Greaves had controlled the game with their superior spiking.

However, a tremendous counter from Carlton’s former Barbados netballer Rhea Bryant, Shakira Wilkinson-Jack and Nerissa Dyer shifted the balance.

With Janelle Morris being handed the setting duties and libero Kianna White giving solid ground support, Carlton totally outplayed Deacons in sets three and four, as Greaves and Edwards faded and veteran Julia Lewis seemed at sea in attack. (KB)
