A broken drive shaft has pushed last year’s champions Dane Skeete and Tyler Mayhew into sixth place as the 2020 Sol Rally Barbados goes into its final day today.

After leading the rally for most of yesterday, the pair, in their Sol/CO Williams Sand & Lime/Automotive Art Subaru Impreza WRC S12B, has an uphill battle on their hands as they have to overhaul a 18.57 seconds lead of new leaders, Britain’s Rob Swann and Welsh co-driver Darren Garrod in the Blue Sky Luxury/Marriott All-Inclusive raswann.co.uk Ford Fiesta WRC.

The Brits will start today with a time of 27 minutes 38.89 seconds, compared with 27 minutes 57.46 seconds for Skeete and Mayhew.

“It was a tough day today. No launch control and then a broken driveshaft. We didn’t hit anything, so I guess it is just one of those things”, Skeete told SUNSPORT at Bushy Park, St Philip, the rest halt for the two-day event. (TT)
