The board and management of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) has advised that the Laboratory Department is undergoing a cleaning and refurbishment project which is scheduled to be completed by December 21.

A media statement from the QEH said the project required works to be done in several phases to address the industrial cleaning and refurbishment needs of its diagnostic and administrative units.

“In the interim, to ensure that patient care is not compromised, the Laboratory Department continues to offer a limited laboratory service and the QEH has partnered with the private sector to outsource laboratory services. This partnership has ensured the continuity of laboratory services for critical and urgent care which includes the testing of blood and blood products.

“We the QEH board and management value the health, well-being and safety of our patients and staff. Therefore, we would like to assure the public that every effort is being made to safely complete the industrial cleaning and remedial works in the Laboratory Department within the shortest timeframe possible,” the statement said.

The QEH has apologised for any inconvenience caused. (PR)
