There is a mad rush for flying fish ahead of the Easter weekend.

Before the Bridgetown Fisheries Complex opened at 8 a.m., scores of people lined up outside the gates, waiting for officials to open the market.

Fish vendors told The Nation that they were boning as many 500 flying fish daily since last Friday when boats came back with lots of the fish.

Fishermen are selling the fish to vendors at $130 for 100, while vendors are selling to customers at $20 for a pack of 10.

Having fish on the menu, as well as flying kites, are among the Easter traditions in Barbados. (SB)
