Atherley: Slogan a blunder

The slogan “Little Island, Big Barbados” that was earmarked to push Barbados’ tourism brand, which has now been scrapped by Government, has been deemed a big blunder by Opposition Leader Bishop Joseph Atherley.

“It is yet another blunder in a long list of blunders, and while that is bad enough, the fact is, these blunders are costing Barbados money. I’ve heard various figures quoted with respect to the cost of the slogan and now we have abandoned it and we got to spend more money on a new one,” Atherley said yesterday after a meeting with hotel workers in the Queen’s Park Steel Shed, The City.

In yesterday’s SUNDAY SUN, Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley revealed that the international company Landor was paid half-million dollars for developing the slogan, as well other tasks such as camera footage. She also announced an 18-member committee titled Destination Barbados Reboot Panel which would be tasked with coming up with a new slogan hopefully by August. (CA)
