Andre Applewhaite to make senior football debut

Full-back Andre Applewhaite, who celebrated his 18th birthday yesterday, is set to make his debut for the Barbados senior national football team.

He was named in the starting line up ahead of tonight’s Concacaf FIFA World Cup qualifier against Dominican Republic here at the Felix Sanchez Olympic Stadium.

Head coach Russell Latapy made four changes to the side that defeated Anguilla 1-0 in March.

In the absence of captain Rashad Jules, Latapy brought in Ackeel Applewhaite, while Niall Reid-Stephen will play midfield as opposed to in a striking position in place of Jomo Harris. Carl Hinkson was replaced at right back by Rashad Smith and the debutant will play at left back.
