The Best-dos Santos Public Health Laboratory reported 95 new cases – 46 females and 49 males – of COVID-19 from 1 686 tests conducted on Friday, September 17.
There are currently 842 people in isolation.
Of the new cases, twenty-two persons are under the age of 18, and 72 are 18 years and older. The age of one individual is unknown.
A 70-year-old Barbadian male died on Friday at the Harrison Point Isolation Facility. He had co-morbidities and was unvaccinated.
Since the start of the pandemic, Barbados has recorded 6 453 confirmed cases of the viral illness (3 226 males and 3 227 females), and 58 deaths.
The public health laboratory has carried out 293 705 tests.
Under the National Vaccination Programme for COVID-19, 125 042 first doses were administered, while 97 311 people (35.9 per cent of the population) received their second dose and are fully vaccinated. (BGIS)
