Bumper crowd for Test

Interest in Test cricket is at fever pitch in Barbados, with more than 8 000 spectators expected to flock to Kensington Oval both today and tomorrow, the first two days of the West Indies clash with England.

Barbados Cricket Association (BCA) manager of marketing and communications Steven Leslie said the first two days were sold out and ticket sales were going “extremely well” well for days three, four and five.

“I believe we are going to have very sizeable crowds; certainly, on the first two days it could be 8 000-plus. Test cricket is major in the Caribbean and Barbados is one of the most popular venues, so it is always pleasing to have this kind of support,” he said.

Leslie said with the BCA being given the green light to have 100 per cent capacity for the venue, this should pave the way for heavy fan attendance in the popular Greenidge & Haynes Stand, Three Ws Stand and the Party Stand. (MK)
