MCCALLUM CLARKE made a dream start to the 2016 CARIFTA Swimming Championships, posting a new record as the meet got underway today in Martinique.

In the heats, Clarke notched the fastest qualifying time of 2 minutes 37.82 seconds in the 200 metre breaststroke for 11 to 12 boys. He returned in the final to lower the time to 2:37.78, taking gold. Teammate Roan Baker was third in 2:49.01 and Jamaica’s Rajiv Redhi took silver in 2:45.69.
